Appropriation in art is a delicate balance between respect and innovation and I embrace this challenge. By taking existing visuals and recontextualizing them, I craft narratives that engage and inspire. In Painting 1 class, Fall of 2023, we had to make a series of works surrounding the concept of appropriation. We had to take existing material and recreate it in some way. For Revenge on Kardashians and Earned I used magazine clippings and paint. The rest of the works are from images found online.

Taylor Boledovich
My name is Taylor Boledovich and I am a 2D artist based in the Chicago area. My focus is in traditional animation and illustration, but as you will see in my portfolio, I like to explore many different artistic mediums! This incudes video editing, painting, printmaking, character design, and special effects. I've always had a fascination with film and painting.
Starting as a little girl when I would stare for hours at my dads print of Woman with a Head of Roses by Salvador Dali and since then, I've been hooked! My creations stand out thanks to their distinctive style and meticulous attention to detail. I aim to convey powerful stories and emotions through my work, allowing viewers to connect on a deeply personal level. Every brushstroke and animation is crafted with care, blending innovative techniques with a touch of nostalgia. Join me on this journey as we uncover the qualities that make my art truly special.

2: CHILDHOOD SERIES

Over the Spring Semester in my Painting 2 class we had to create a series of works that came from the same theme. My theme was childhood. I began pulling from traumatic experiences with A Mother's Love but ultimately ended with the fun of being a kid in Barbie Cow. Painful memories may burn like a nasty cut, but a glittery band-aid will always make it better.
